An incident that started with a knife has ended with a gun-related charge against a Brandon woman.
The charge stems from incident on Jan. 24 in which a man was charged with weapons offences for allegedly flashing a utility knife at staff at a First Street North gas station.
Police said the man was tracked to a nearby home and a loaded .22-calibre rifle was found on the property.
A woman has since claimed ownership of the gun and she was arrested for unsafe storage.
Brandon Police Service Const. Ron Burgess said that, in general, such rifles must be locked up, secured with a trigger lock or disabled by removing the bolt. The gun also has to be stored away from ammunition.
A 40-year-old Brandon woman will appear in court on June 25.
