BU warns students after flasher shows up at library

Brandon University has sent a warning to its students after a flasher made an appearance at the library.

The warning — an email sent to students on behalf of Tom Brophy, associate vice-president and university registrar — was issued on Thursday.

“The safety of all members of the BU community is the highest priority,” the email states. “Please be aware of this incident and your surroundings.”

The alert notes that not much information about the incident is available. It states that a Caucasian male committed indecent exposure outside of the men’s washroom in the basement of the George T. Richardson Centre (John E. Robbins Library). It doesn’t specify the time and date of the incident.

Any witnesses are urged to contact campus security immediately if this happens again. They can dial 700 from a BU landline or call 204-727-9700.

There’s no indication that this incident is linked to a series of similar incidents reported in Brandon and Westman dating back to early 2012.
