A car and a truck are missing after a pair of Labour Day weekend thefts, including one in which thieves rammed the vehicle through a locked gate to make their getaway.
Police say that a woman called them just before 9 a.m. on Monday to report that her car had been stolen overnight. The brown 1988 Ford Crown Victoria had been parked on the street on the 200-block of 13th Street. It was bearing Manitoba licence plate number EVH 533.
Police continue to investigate.
They’re also looking into the case of a stolen pickup truck that was used as a battering ram to get away.
The truck, a blue and white 1989 GMC pickup, with Manitoba plate number CBA 617, had been parked in a fenced company compound on the 1500-block of Park Street over the weekend. The business owner reported it stolen at about 3 p.m. on Monday.
The truck, which also has a cap on the box that has company decals on the sides, had apparently been driven through the locked gate of the compound as thieves made their escape. Police expect it to have front-end damage, as well as damage to the steering column.
