The City of Brandon has a slew of events to celebrate Earth Day, which is tomorrow.
Beginning on Tuesday, four Westman science fair projects about environmental awareness will be available for public viewing in the main foyer of city hall during regular business hours.
On Thursday, CAA Manitoba will be providing free eco checks to vehicles at 305 18th St. from 12 p.m.-8 p.m for which a CAA membership is not required.
There will also be community-wide promotion of Fair Trade Friday on Friday.
The City of Brandon in partnership with the Brandon Environment Committee will host Brandon Earth Day celebrations on Sunday, April 27, from 12 p.m.-4 p.m. at Princess Park, or at city hall, if weather conditions are poor.
The free family event will have performances by MECCA Productions, and John, Luke & the Captains, with kids’ activities including a bouncy castle, face painting and a sidewalk chalk activity. How-to workshops will also be available on invasive species, how to build your own rain barrel and bike safety.
CAA Manitoba will be providing free eco checks to vehicles and accepting any used oil, car batteries and old tires and a chartered transit bus will be leaving the park at 1 p.m. to tour the city’s landfill and recycling facility.
