Coun. Jan Chaboyer (Green Acres) will bring forward a motion regarding disaster financial assistance at tonight’s city council meeting.
Chaboyer would like to see the Association of Manitoba Municipalities lobby the governments of Canada and Manitoba for a review of the current DFA policies “to increase funding to and expand the criteria for eligibility to these programs, in order to allow municipalities more rapid and consistent access to funding.”
Also on the agenda is an introduction of David Ironstand, who is the city’s new aboriginal relations liaison.
Council will appoint a new deputy mayor, acting deputy mayor as well as make appointments to committees.
The bylaw to provide $2 million in financial assistance to the Keystone Centre for roof repairs will be read a final time.
Council will deal with several zoning bylaws, including first reading of a bylaw to amend regulations for secondary suites and dwelling units.
City council meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Brandon City Hall.
