A 33-year-old Brandon man faces several charges after it’s alleged he broke into a home to assault his father, then threatened to come back with a knife and burn down the place.
Police were first called to a disturbance on the 400-block of Eighth Street Monday afternoon. They say the suspect forced his way into the home in an enraged state and allegedly assaulted his father, as well as caused some damage to property in the home.
Before leaving, he also allegedly threatened to return to set fire to the home, and to bring a knife to further assault his father.
Officers managed to find the man nearby and he was arrested without incident. He was held overnight and was to appear for a bail hearing Tuesday.
The father wasn’t injured enough to receive medical treatment, and police say they still aren’t sure what sparked the incident.
The suspect has been charged with break, enter and committing an assault, uttering threats of death or injury and mischief to property.
