City council will discuss proposal for old fire hall

Debate on how garbage is collected at some apartment and condo buildings will be a key part of Monday’s Brandon City Council meeting agenda.

Councillors will be asked to approve or reject a report that recommends a five-year phase-in of private garbage and recycling collection to buildings with seven or more units.

Discussions on whether to request a business plan within six months for a proposed brewpub at the former Firehall No. 1 on Princess Avenue are also on the agenda.

Final reading of a temporary sign bylaw will be voted on, and second reading of a rezoning proposal for property at 1660 34th St. to accommodate a 24-unit detached and semi-detached condo development will be up for debate.

Members of the public are allowed, during the community question period, to ask about any item that is on the agenda for that meeting.

The meeting will be held at Brandon City Hall at 7:30 p.m.
