Starting early Monday morning, city crews have been busy removing snow from Brandon streets and the city reminds drivers that there should be no parking on designated snow routes until further notice.
The overnight parking bans last from midnight until 8 a.m. and allow city workers to plow snow and remove snow piles.
Snow routes — most of Rosser Avenue and Princess Avenue, as well as downtown stretches of Ninth Street and 10th Street, plus Louise Avenue for a few blocks east of 18th Street — are marked by signs.
All vehicles found to be in violation of the parking ban will be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
People who normally park overnight on snow routes should find an alternate place to park until the parking ban is lifted, to ensure they do not have their vehicles towed. A full list of winter snow clearing routes (in effect from Nov. 15th to March 31st annually) and an explanation of when and how parking restrictions are enforced can be found online at brandon.ca.
For up-to-the-minute information regarding parking bans on designated snow routes, people can also call the city’s parking ban hotline at 204-729-2500.
