Twenty new child-care spaces will open soon in Oak Lake, as construction on a new program at the Oak Lake Community School is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
The province is paying $640,000 toward the new facility, which is being built next to the school.
Provincial legislation now requires child-care centres to be included in schools whenever a new school is built or is undergoing major renovations.
Another 230 new spaces are being built elsewhere in the province, including in Winnipeg, St. Andrews and the RM of Taché.
