Most of us are getting weary of the piles of snow, the frigid wind chill and chiselling ice off our windshields.
The first day of spring rolled into Brandon feeling like a brisk -37 C.
But one local grandmother is refusing to let the winter blues get her down.
Kim Bright is quickly becoming known as the "Canadian Granny Defying Winter" through her series of quirky YouTube videos.
From ice skating and tobogganing to snowmobiling and cross-country skiing, this granny has done it all — in her bathing suit.
"Back in February after the second big dump of snow, I had quite a few friends and relatives … going away on holidays," she said. "So I got my son to take a picture of me with my bathing suit on next to the six-foot snowdrift with my bike."
Bright said the idea took off from there and soon began posting the short videos.
"The worst was the cross-country ski one because I fell down and I couldn’t get up," Bright said. "It was so cold that day, so I think that was the worst."
Bright uses the tagline, "Fight on, Manitoba!" in her videos, inspired by another YouTube video posted two years ago by a fellow Manitoban.
Bright’s first video riding a mountain bike was posted last month and has had more than 2,100 views.
She has since posted at least seven more, which are also gaining popularity.
Bright, who recently welcomed her first grandchild, hopes people see the humour in her unique project.
"It’s just having a different attitude towards winter," she said.
"If you take a positive attitude, it goes a lot better than grumbling."
Bright has plans to post more winter videos, so stay tuned to the "BrightNewtwork" YouTube channel.
