Brandon police officers will be on the streets in force this weekend as they join a nationwide crackdown on high-risk driving behaviour.
Officers will be looking for speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and other aggressive driving habits during a series of high-visibility checkstops.
Called “Operation Impact,” the campaign will kick off today at 10 a.m. in the southbound lanes of First Street near Dinsdale Park. More checkstops will be held throughout the Thanksgiving weekend until Monday
The campaign is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police in partnership with Transport Canada. Locally, the Brandon Police Service is partnering with Manitoba Public Insurance to conduct the checkstops.
