Crime Stoppers -- Police hope to solve vehicle arson case

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a vehicle arson.

Sometime between Jan. 28 and Feb. 12, someone broke into a White Ford F350 that had been left parked at the Keystone Centre.

The side mirrors and keyless entry pad on the vehicle were damaged.

Once inside the vehicle, the suspects set a fire in the area of the rear seat, causing burning and extensive smoke damage.

If you have information about this or any other crime, contact Brandon Crime Stoppers.

Wanted by police

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Garfield Joseph Chartrand, who is wanted by police.

Chartrand, 38, is charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with a peace officer’s demand for a blood sample, along with several Highway Traffic Offences.

Police report that on Dec. 12, a vehicle was stopped and checked on the 2700-block of McDonald Avenue.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving. After being released from custody, the suspect failed to attend court on Jan. 16.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Chartrand, who is also currently wanted by another jurisdiction for an outstanding arrest warrant.

If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Garfield Joseph Chartrand or anyone else wanted by police, contact Brandon Crime Stoppers.
