With more than 30 years of toiling in the financial industry under his belt, Jeff Cristall was named Lifetime Business Builder by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce last night.

During his lengthy career in Brandon, Cristal’s knack for numbers has been a benefit to small- and medium-sized businesses and agricultural enterprises in the Westman region, according to the chamber.

Cristall currently works for MNP LLP accounting firm as a valuations and corporate finance consultant, and previously worked as the company’s regional managing partner for the southern Manitoba region.

Cristall was called upon to serve in many key areas involving Calgary-based MNP’s growth over the years.

"During this time, Jeff also demonstrated a rare and unique gift for effectively mentoring aspiring accountants and managers that can only be found in a strong leader," the chamber profile states.

"From early on in his early professional career, Jeff has recognized the importance of community by taking on many significant volunteer-based leadership roles. His contributions to Brandon and the Westman region are as diverse as they are many."

Meanwhile, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce handed out other hardware last night.

Bernie Chrisp, president of Brandon Riverbank Inc., was given the Community Service Award for his service on a wide range of committees.

The Business Excellence Award went to Behlen Industries for its 40-year growth to become Canada’s largest manufacturer of steel building systems.

The Paw Resort and Wellness Centre took home the Outstanding New Business Award for its "home-away-from-home" for pets.
