A 16-year-old Dauphin boy is facing charges after he allegedly punched an RCMP officer who was trying to cuff him.
Dauphin RCMP say that officers were on patrol in that city around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, when they spotted a group of youths walking on Sixth Avenue SW. One of the youths they recognized as being on probation with a curfew, and they stopped to arrest him.
However, as they were putting him in handcuffs, they say the teen punched one of the officers in the face and ran off. He was recaptured a short distance away.
A 16-year-old Dauphin boy has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and breach of probation. He was held over the weekend to appear in Dauphin court Monday.
The officer was not seriously injured.
