Employers who want to take advantage of federal subsidies when hiring summer students better act fast — the cutoff to apply is coming up.
Merv Tweed, the Conservative MP for Brandon-Souris, says that Feb. 28 is the deadline to apply for funding through the Canada Summer Jobs 2013 Program.
“Our government’s top priority remains the economy and the Summer Jobs Program will directly support students and local organizations,” Tweed said.
“I encourage employers in Brandon-Souris who are eligible for this program to apply prior to the deadline to help create summer employment opportunities for young people.”
Funding is available to community based organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses to create high-quality summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students and intend to return to school in the next year.
Employers can apply online at servicecanada.gc.ca/csj2013 or at their local Service Canada Centre.
