Disaster assistance, Dome Building on city council agenda

City council will be back in session on Monday night after a three-week break.

Rob O’Connor, general manager of the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, will present to council regarding support for Restoring the Glory, a campaign to raise funds for the restoration of Display Building No. 2.

A motion to request disaster financial assistance through the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization is also on the agenda.

Excessive rain and high water levels have caused damage to private and public property and the city is hoping the province will step in to help with the recovery costs.

The Keystone Centre is requesting a $38,000 grant from the accommodation tax reserve for capital enhancements to support the Canadian National Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse Show, which will take place at the facility from Aug. 11-16.

Bylaws on the agenda include rezoning 947 First St. from residential single family to residential low density multiple family, and opening 866 Ninth St. as Park Avenue.

Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Brandon City Hall.
