A chain reaction of deals means Sutton-Harrison Realty is building a new home, a longstanding dry cleaning business will retire, and a doughnut and coffee shop kitty corner to the new Brandon Police Service station will be constructed.
At an announcement this morning, Sutton-Harrison Realty will reveal that a Robin’s Donuts/2-4-1 Pizza restaurant will be constructed at the corner of 10th Street and Victoria Avenue once the existing Sutton-Harrison building is demolished the week of Aug. 20.
The Sutton-Harrison Realty business will then move temporarily to 1624A 13th St. for a few months until a new building can be built on the corner of 13th Street and Richmond Avenue. That site is currently occupied by Richmond Dry Cleaners and Laundromat and another residence.
Stan Puhach, the dry cleaning business owner for 35 years, said he plans to close the business as of Dec. 31.
“I’ve been in the business for 35 years and it’s time to go,” Puhach said.
“I won’t miss the business, but I will miss the people. It’s been a good business and I enjoyed working with the public.”
Puhach said he would phase out the business first by ending his dry cleaning operation at the end of November. Then over the month of December, he would gradually sell or move the stock out of the store in order to vacate by Dec. 31.
The changes offer benefits to downtown, said Renaissance Brandon downtown specialist Braden Pilling, as it helps develop the HUB secondary plan.
“By placing the building near the corner of the intersection, and with attention to exterior design, you create a highly visible, attractive gateway to downtown,” Pilling said in a press release.
