The man then drove off from the 1100-block of 18th Street in Brandon, headed into the RM of Cornwallis and crashed the vehicle.
RCMP responded to the collision outside the city at 4:30 a.m., placed him under arrest and the man spent the night in the Brandon Correctional Centre.
An 18-year-old Shilo man is facing charges of choking to overcome resistance and theft of a motor vehicle and was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, according to a Brandon Police Service release.
