Both the driver and a passenger were arrested after police saw the vehicle they were in go into the ditch on the outskirts of Brandon on Thursday night.
At about 10:50 p.m., police were near Richmond Avenue and 50th Street when they saw the vehicle head off the road.
The 40-year-old Brandon man behind the wheel showed signs of intoxication, officers say and was arrested.
The results of a later breath test showed he was more than double the legal limit.
He’ll appear in court on Jan. 24 to face a charge of impaired driving.
The passenger, a 22-year-old Alexander man who was on probation, was found to be carrying a small amount of marijuana and was arrested as well.
He will appear in court on March 7 to answer drug possession charges and again on March 14 on a charge of breaching probation.
