It was a drunk driver’s weaving ways that drew the attention of police and ultimately earned him a high fine.
Around 10 p.m. on Aug. 23, RCMP received a report of a truck swerving along Highway 10, south of the city.
That was followed shortly after by a report to 911 that the truck had been spotted swerving on 18th Street.
Brandon police caught up with the truck on the 600-block of 18th Street, where sure enough, it swerved and nearly hit the curb.
Police pulled the truck over and learned that the driver, Ian Michael Baley, had far more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
In Brandon court on Thursday, Baley pleaded guilty to driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit. He was fined $1,200 and banned from driving for a year.
