With just a little bit of paving left to do this summer, the province confirmed Wednesday that Brandon’s eastern access route is fully open.
Many motorists have been driving on the route, officially known as Highway 110, for a while.
The $30-million project included a new railway underpass as well as a flood-protection system that was built in. A pumping station and drainage network was designed and installed to minimize the risk of the roadway underpass having to be closed during a flood.
Even though work to install a final layer of pavement needs to wait for warmer weather, the road is fully open now and is expected to be open at all times, except for short-term lane closures during the final paving.
