'Ed's Garage' ready to rev up Westman

The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s annual regional tour is getting ready to tighten sprockets, fix fan belts and melt hearts across Westman with "Ed’s Garage" by Dan Needles.

Ed can fix just about anything — an old truck, a stubborn boat motor, even people’s problems. The folks of Port Petunia flock to Ed’s Garage for oil changes and sage advice.

Everything’s running like a well-oiled machine until a psychotherapist from the city sets up shop next door, throwing a wrench into the whole business.

"Ed’s Garage" reunites the creative team behind the acclaimed "Wingfield" series — writer Dan Needles, director Douglas Beattie and Canadian theatre icon Rod Beattie in the role of Ed.

The cast is rounded out by Andrew Cecon as Peter, Douglas E. Hughes as Nick and Tracy Penner as Cassandra.

The tour includes five stops in Westman. The stops are in:

• Virden — Saturday at 8 p.m., The Aud. Tickets available at the Virden Community Arts Council, 204-748-3014, or email vcaccp@mts.net

• Souris — Monday at 7:30 p.m., Souris School auditorium. Tickets available at the Plaza Petals or call Sharon 204-483-2001.

• Brandon — Jan. 12 at 8 p.m., Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Tickets available at the WMCA office, 204-728-9510, or online at wmca.ca.

• Minnedosa — Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m., Minnedosa Community Centre. Tickets available at the Minnedosa Regional Library at 204-867-2585.

• Neepawa — Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m., Roxy Theatre.
