The urge to get a frosty drink has proven costly for a woman convicted of impaired driving.
Defence lawyer Bob Harrison said Jennifer Christina Haggstrom had a craving for a Slurpee when she drove drunk.
“It’s going to be a very expensive Slurpee,” Harrison remarked in Brandon court as Haggstrom was fined $1,000.
On May 3, around 11:25 p.m., police spotted a suspicious vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of a city convenience store.
Haggstrom, 24, was behind the wheel and told police that she’d had one beer with supper. Tests showed she had a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit.
Judge Krystyna Tarwid fined Haggstrom $1,000 and banned her from driving for a year.

suspicious vehicle?as a journalist you are obligated to tell us what the suspicion was. or maybe you didn't ask a the cops. journalism 101.in alberta not 2 years ago a drunk driver slammed head on into a car, killing the two occupants, and left 5 children without their parents.this guy served less than 2 years in jail lost his licence for a measely 3 years and oh yes paid a fine of $1001.00
How does that grab you? so you are telling me $1000.00 and a loosing her license for a year, because of a suspicious vehicle? In Manitoba this Albertan would probably be serving at least 25 years and never been able to drive again. And you know what? That is what he should have gotten in Alberta. But I am still curious as to the meaning of "suspicious vehicle".
