Flooding closes Discovery centre temporarily

The swollen Assiniboine River has forced the Riverbank Discovery Centre to close its doors temporarily.

In the meantime, a tourism information and souvenir kiosk has been set up in Shoppers Mall, located near Maurice’s, to provide visitors with information on Brandon and the region.

Lois MacDonald, manager of Riverbank Development and Tourism Services, expects they will be closed until the second crest of the Assiniboine has passed. The latest forecast shows the province expects that second crest by July 17.

Other tourism information and services can be accessed online at www.brandontourism.com.

For more information, call 204-729-2183 or email info@riverbank.mb.ca.
