FP Canadian Newspapers Limited Partnership Inc. is completing the acquisition of the Carberry News-Express, a weekly newspaper with circulation of approximately 1,100.
Eric Lawson, publisher of the Brandon Sun, will be responsible for overseeing the business.
“We are excited about this opportunity, and look forward to continuing the long tradition of community journalism established by the Carberry News-Express,” Lawson said.
The newspaper has served the Carberry and surrounding region for more than 125 years.
The town of Carberry has a population of about 1,500 and is located 50 kilometres east of Brandon.
The acquisition is expected to be completed before the end of October.
