The Southwest Branch Manitoba Genealogical Society is holding a one-day workshop on Saturday, April 13 at Knox United Church at 451 18th St.

The workshop will feature presenters from the local Westman area as well as genealogists from the Manitoba Genealogical Society in Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie.

The premier presenter will be Elizabeth Briggs, a well-known author, presenter and genealogist.

She will present on sound genealogical practices, getting the most out of Census records and Irish research.

Other topics include Irish history-religion and immigration, genealogy basics and beyond and using Manitoba Archives and Vital Statistics.

The cost is $40 per person if you register before April 1 and $45 after that date; spouse may attend at half-price.

For registration information, visit the Southwest Branch’s website at swmanitobagenealogy.ca or call 204-728-2935 for more information.

In conjunction with the workshop, the branch will also host a Heritage Dinner that night at Margo’s Grill banquet room, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

Guest speaker will be Richard McIntyre who will present on Ireland.

Registration for the dinner is included on the workshop registration form.

Cost for the dinner is only $17.99.
