Badgley’s collection of mosaics is the featured exhibit at the museum and will continue to be on display until late March.
For Saturday’s special presentation, admission fees will be waived from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Guests will have a chance to talk with Badgley, see him in action and perhaps even try some mosaic making themselves.
Badgley got interested in mosaic art when renovating his home and adding some stained glass windows. After creating a few windows, he shifted to the artworks and has turned it into a very satisfying retirement activity.
Typically, Badgley works in his small storage room four or five hours a day. Most works take from a month to a month and a half to complete.
Summer travels take him all over Canada to seek the glass he uses.
"Each work has a story behind it," says Badgley, who draws inspiration from a variety of sources.
In the past, Badgley worked with oils, and the viewer can see the artist’s attention to detail in his mosaics. He has also created countless "pet rocks" for kids.
Next Saturday he will be bringing some of his snappers, pliers and safety glasses to the museum’s exhibit room.
Daly House Museum, located at 122 18th St. in Brandon, is open 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
Guided or self-guided tours are available.
