Golfers going distance to help Cancer Society

Marathon Monday tees off today for its third year of fundraising efforts to put an end to cancer.

Today, Patrick Law and Dylan Thornborough will be playing more than 200 holes of golf to support the Canadian Cancer Society at the Glenboro Golf and Country Club. The day-long event will begin at sunrise, and conclude with a supper and prize auction at 7 p.m.

Raising more than $15,000 and golfing 260 holes since the event’s inception, Marathon Monday is an initiative close to both golfers’ hearts, and well supported by the communities in which they reside.

“Cancer has directly affected both our families, and we feel it’s important that we do our part to put a stop to the disease,” Law said.

“Golf is such a huge part of both of our lives,” Thornborough said.

Tickets for the Marathon Monday supper are available for $30, with all proceeds going directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.

To purchase tickets, or make a donation, visit the Glenboro Tru Building Centre, Shilo Country Club, or Glenboro Golf and Country Club or visit marathonmondaygolf.com.
