Hanbury Hill’s going to the dogs.
Brandon’s new and very popular place for hiking, tobogganing and mountain biking will now also feature a cool canine common area. The City of Brandon has issued an invitation to the public to attend the official opening of the Hanbury Hill Pooch Park at 3 p.m. on Monday.
The unique park has been created in partnership with the Wheat City Lions Club and features benches and picnic tables for the public, along with a separately fenced area that small dog owners have the option to use, a city spokesperson said in a release.
Mayor Shari Decter Hirst, Coun. Jeff Fawcett (Assiniboine) and invited guests from the Wheat City Lions Club will be at Hanbury Hill Pooch Park, at 600 Braecrest Drive, to mark the opening.
Following the short ceremony, folks can take a walk — with or without their furry friends — around the forest-like setting and provide any feedback or comments they may have about park to the city officials.
