Police are investigating more vandalism at the historic Criddle/Vane homestead southeast of Brandon.
Vandals smashed windows and destroyed a protective panel at the provincial historic site. However, police aren’t sure when it happened.
The homestead, which is about 40 kilometres southeast of Brandon in the Rural Municipality of South Cypress, became Manitoba’s 79th provincial park in 2004.
The Criddle and Vane families were Prairie pioneers who became well known for their contributions to science — especially entomology, the study of insects — art, sports and culture.
This is not the first time that the site has been hit by vandals. In 2012, five rural Brandon youths were nabbed by police after substantial damage was done to the property.
Anyone with tips about the most recent spate of mischief is asked to call the Brandon RCMP at 204-726-7522 or Crime Stoppers.
