Holiday Closings -- New Years 2013

The Brandon Sun wishes readers a Happy New Year. Here’s a list of open hours for some businesses and important services for the holiday:

Your newspaper

• The Brandon Sun will not publish on New Year’s Day, (Tuesday).

City of Brandon

• City hall and Civic Services Complex will be closed on New Year’s Day and will resume regular business hours on Jan. 2.

Transit

• New Year’s Eve — Buses and Handi Transit will run for regular hours. There will be free transit service from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

• New Year’s Day — Buses won’t run and the Information Centre and the Transit Office will be closed. Handi Transit will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Travel

• Buses at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot. Call 204-727-0643 for times.

Liquor

• New Year’s Eve — Victoria Avenue Liquor Mart, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Shoppers Mall, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Corral Centre Liquor Mart, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• New Year’s Day — All Liquor Marts are closed.

• Rural Liquor Mart hours vary. Check with your local Liquor Mart or visit liquormartsonline.com.

Health

• New Year’s Eve — Open hours: The Brandon Clinic, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Brandon Clinic west, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m; Newmount Medical Clinic, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wheat City Clinic, 7:30 to 4 p.m.; Western Medical Clinic (unknown); The Rosser Medical Group, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Trinity Medical Clinic, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• The Rhema Clinic is closed on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Jan. 2.

• Brandon Clinic Pharmacy — will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day.

• Miller’s Pharmacy — will be open New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day.

• Wheat City Pharmacy — will be open on New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day.

• Medical Centre Pharmacy — is New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day.

• Super Thrifty Pharmacy — will be open on New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day. Owner and pharmacist Jennifer Ludwig is on call after hours for emergencies at 204-724-0538.

Garbage

• New Year’s Day — The Eastview Landfill Site will be closed and there will be no garbage or recycling collection. Those who regularly have their garbage/recycling picked up on Tuesday will have it picked up on Saturday, Jan. 5, instead. The regular collection schedule will resume on Jan. 8.

• Jan. 2 — The Eastview Landfill Site will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and regular garbage and recycling collection takes place.

Canada Post

• Canada Post offices are closed on New Year’s Day. There will be no regular mail delivery and collection that day. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

Shopping

• Shoppers Mall will be open on New Year’s Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day.

• Shoppers Mall hours don’t necessarily affect the hours for Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge. Call 204-571-3160 for open hours.

• The Town Centre is open on New Year’s Eve from 8:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, the businesses and offices within The Town Centre may be open or closed according to their own policy.

Brandon Public Library

• The library will be open on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day.
