Holiday Closings for Christmas 2012

The Brandon Sun wishes its readers a Merry Christmas. Here’s a list of open hours for some businesses and important services for the holiday:

Your newspaper

• The Brandon Sun will not publish on Christmas Day (Tuesday).

City of Brandon

• City hall and Civic Services Complex will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Transit

• Christmas Eve (Monday) — Buses and Handi Transit will run until 8 p.m., and the Information Centre and Transit Administration Office will be open until that time.

• Christmas Day — Buses won’t run and the Information Centre and Transit Administration office will be closed. Handi Transit will run from noon to 8 p.m.

• Boxing Day — Buses won’t run and the Information Centre and the Transit Administration Office will be closed. Handi Transit will run from noon to 4 p.m.

Travel

• Buses at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot. Call 204-727-0643 for times.

Liquor

• Christmas Eve — The Victoria Avenue Liquor Mart is open noon to 6 p.m.; Shoppers Mall Liquor Mart, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Corral Centre Liquor Mart, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Christmas Day — All Liquor Marts are closed.

• Boxing Day — Victoria Avenue Liquor Mart, noon to 6 p.m.; Shoppers Mall, noon to 6 p.m.; Corral Centre Liquor Mart, noon to 6 p.m.

• Rural Liquor Mart hours vary. Check with your local Liquor Mart or visit the website liquormartsonline.com.

Health

• Christmas Eve (Monday) — The Brandon Clinic, Wheat City Clinic, Trinity Medical Clinic and Rhema Clinic are closed. Open — Brandon Clinic West, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Newmount Medical Clinic, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Western Medical Clinic, 8 a.m. to noon; Rosser Medical Group, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Christmas Day — All of the above clinics are closed.

• Boxing Day — The Brandon Clinic, Western Medical Clinic and Rosser Medical Group, Trinity Medical Clinic and Rhema Clinic are closed. Open — Brandon Clinic West, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Newmount Medical Clinic, noon to 4 p.m.; Wheat City Clinic, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Trinity Medical Clinic is closed until Dec. 27.

• Brandon Clinic Pharmacy — Will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

• Miller’s Pharmacy — Will be open on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and closed on Christmas Day, and open on Boxing Day from noon to 4 p.m.

• Medical Centre Pharmacy — Will be open on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

• Super Thrifty Pharmacy — Will be open Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Owner and pharmacist Jennifer Ludwig is on call after hours for emergencies at 204-724-0538.

• Wheat City Pharmacy — Will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but open on Boxing Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Garbage

• Christmas Day (Tuesday) — The Eastview Landfill Site will be closed and there will be no garbage or recycling collection. Anyone who usually has their garbage/recycling picked up on Tuesday will have it picked up on Saturday, Dec. 29. Regular collection will resume on Jan. 8.

• Boxing Day — The Eastview Landfill Site will be open 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and there will be regular garbage and recycling collection.

• Residents are reminded that shiny/foil giftwrap and gift bags are not recyclable and are to be disposed of in regular garbage bins, not recycling bins.

Canada Post

• Canada Post offices are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There will be no regular mail delivery and collection on those days. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

Shopping

• Shoppers Mall will be open on Christmas Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Christmas Day. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Boxing Day.

• Shoppers Mall hours don’t necessarily affect the hours for Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge. Call 204-571-3160 for open hours.

• The Town Centre is open 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On Christmas Eve, the businesses and offices within The Town Centre may be open or closed according to their own policy.

BRANDON PUBLIC LIBRARY

The library will be open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
