A 21-year-old male inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre faces new criminal charges after a fellow inmate was assaulted last week.
On the evening of Jan. 5, the Brandon jail reported an altercation that had occurred earlier in the afternoon, which involved three male inmates.
One of the men involved suffered upper body injuries that required hospital treatment.
An investigation into the incident found that the injured inmate had been the victim of an assault.
On Tuesday, a suspect was interviewed at the BCC. He was to appear in a Brandon court yesterday to face charges of aggravated assault.
