Kingsway Kort rezoning objections poised to trigger public hearing

City council awaits objections to the rezoning of the Kingsway Trailer Kort property.

The bylaw, which calls for the rezoning of 1630 Sycamore Dr. and 21 Willowcrest Ave. from commercial arterial zone to residential high density multiple family zone, was given second reading at Monday’s council meeting.

Due to the fact there were objections at a recent Brandon Planning Commission hearing, city council must send a notice to all objectors before they can give the bylaw third and final reading.

If objections are filed, which city clerk Con Arvisais says is very likely, there will be a public hearing on the issue Jan. 6.

Following the public hearing, council can either continue with third and final reading or stop any further readings, effectively rejecting the application to rezone.
