Police say that a man who walked out of a Brandon liquor store with a bottle of booze was later arrested drunk.
Officers were called to the Liquor Mart at 10th Street and Victoria Avenue — directly across from the police station — at about 7 p.m. on Monday.
When confronted by staff, the man had just walked out of the store casually with a bottle of vodka. Staff weren’t able to determine which direction he’d gone.
A little while later, though, police got a call about a drunk man in the 1200-block of Victoria Avenue East who matched the description of the theft suspect.
A 32-year-old Brandon man was arrested for theft under $5,000.
He was also taken to the drunk tank to sober up.
