Of all the things you think you can accomplish in seven minutes, chances are preparing dinner isn’t one of them.

That’s about to change.

In every episode of "7 Minute Suppers," a delectable seven-part cooking series produced by Winnipeg-based Nüman Films and airing on MTS Winnipeg on Demand, an executive chef from one of the province’s hottest restaurants creates a mouth-watering fresh and healthy meal — in just seven minutes.

And we’re not talking "TV" minutes either. When the timer starts, these culinary connoisseurs cook up their delicious dinners in real time. From Salmon Oscar to Bison Scaloppini to Herb Crusted Pickerel, these chefs will show you that a gourmet meal is just minutes away.

One of the featured chefs is Jayson MacCallum of Brandon’s Echo Restaurant and Wine Bar at The Royal Oak Inn and Suites.

With 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, he strives to achieve a high standard of culinary excellence utilizing a broad range of ingredients that celebrate and surprise the Prairie palate. When it comes to quick and easy dining, MacCallum celebrates the virtues of the basics, preferring simplicity to complexity.

"You can keep it simple and still enjoy uncompromising quality," he said.

Each chef brings his or her own enlivened cuisine and cultural flair, showcasing unique ingredients, sharing prep tips, and showing viewers step-by-step how to wow in the kitchen.

The program also visits their restaurants to watch them in action and learn what inspires them to create fantastic fare every day.

With the exception of MacCallum, the other chefs hail from Winnipeg’s hot dining spots, including Scott Bagshaw from Deseo, Darryl Crumb of Brooklynn’s Bistro, Adam Donnelly of Segovia Tapas Bar, Dario Pineda-Gutierrez of Café Dario, Lorna Murdoch of fusion grill and Darryl Riddle of Le Garage Café.

The first episode of "7 Minute Suppers" premiered Tuesday on MTS TV Winnipeg on Demand.
