A Brandon man is celebrating after winning a “touchdown” top prize win of $100,000 on a Winnipeg Blue Bombers scratch-and-win ticket.
Olaf Muller-Morris bought the winning ticket from Hurl’s Food Mart in Brandon’s east end and scratched the ticket while still in the store. He said he couldn’t believe his eyes when two symbols matched and he had won the top prize available.
“I just stared at the ticket in disbelief!” Muller-Morris said. “I’m very happy, but it just doesn’t seem real.” He added that he plans to use his windfall to pay bills and put some toward his child’s education fund.
About $1.4 million worth of prizes are still available in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Scratch Lottery — the first scratch-and-win lottery in Canadian Football League history.
There are also two Internet contest draws that remain. The first, on Oct. 10, offers a first prize of a VIP trip to the 2012 Grey Cup in Toronto worth $25,000. And the final draw on Nov. 14 offers a first prize of a season ticket package for 10 years of Blue Bombers Football — until the 2022 season — also a $25,000 value. There are also more than $25,000 in Bomber Store gift cards available to be won.
