The mayor of MacGregor was sent to hospital Monday morning after being injured in a collision while riding a bike.
RCMP say police and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a cyclist and vehicle in MacGregor at 7 a.m. on Monday.
The 75-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the 26-year-old man who was driving the vehicle wasn’t harmed.
The man who was on the bike was later identified as Mayor Bill Wiebe. Wiebe’s sister said that the mayor was taken to the Portage la Prairie hospital first, and then transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
As of late Monday afternoon, he remained at HSC and his sister said she was awaiting an update on his condition.
