Man accused of assault after early morning disturbance

An early morning disturbance turned out to be an assault, police say.

Officers were called to the 500-block of Sixth Street at about 5 a.m. on Wednesday after they got a complaint about a disturbance in the area.

Once police tracked the disturbance down, they found a female who said she had been assaulted by a man known to her. He was found on scene, and arrested.

A 41-year-old Brandon man was briefly jailed but was to be released later Wednesday, with a court date to face an assault charge.
