Man accused of setting 8 vehicles on fire gets bail

A man charged in connection with a series of vehicle fires that were set in a single night has been granted bail.

The accused had a bail hearing on Thursday, but there’s a publication ban on details of the allegations presented in court.

However, police have previously reported that, overnight on Oct. 26-27, eight vehicles were set on fire in the areas of Prairie Crescent, Durum Drive and Elmdale Boulevard.

A 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis was also stolen from the 300-block of Durum Drive and abandoned on the 100-block of Dennis Street.

Police searched a home on the 300-block of Dennis Street on Nov. 13 and arrested a man.

Angus James Roy Olson, 21, is charged with eight counts of arson and two counts of theft.

Judge John Combs granted bail on Thursday and the case has been put to Jan. 17.
