A man charged in connection with a drug operation that resulted in the seizure of $800,000 worth of marijuana and cocaine has been granted bail.
In Brandon court on Thursday, Crown attorney Patrick Flynn consented to release Jayant David Venn, 33, on conditions that include a $2,500 cash deposit.
Venn is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime (more than $5,000) and careless storage of a pair of rifles.
Police reportedly performed a search at a Brandon-area property on Monday, although it’s not clear exactly where all the drugs were found as Flynn has indicated that a Gilbert Plains-area property was also a target of the same investigation.
Nevertheless, the Brandon Police Service was involved in the operation that reportedly netted $800,000 worth of drugs in the form of 125 pounds of marijuana and two kilograms of cocaine.
The BPS has yet to release any information about the matter, although a spokesman indicated some may be released today.
