Brandon police remained tight-lipped on Thursday about their investigation into the suspicious death of a man whose body was found Wednesday morning.
Police only confirmed that the victim has been identified as a 31-year-old Brandon resident, but did not release his name. Next of kin have been notified and an autopsy was scheduled to take place Thursday morning.
Const. Ron Burgess said no new details or autopsy results were available. Police continue to investigate and further details will be released “as the investigation permits.”
The man was found inside the Brandon Community Welcome Clubhouse, at the corner of 11th Street and Louise Avenue. Police say they were called to the home at 9:23 a.m. and found a man dead at the scene.
The neighbour, who’s familiar with the home and its tenants, said the man was reportedly found when the home administrator and a worker went to check on him because he hadn’t been seen in some time.
The Brandon Homelessness website describes the home as a non-profit housing co-op that offers 14 apartment rentals to people living with psychiatric disabilities.
