A man was found dead in the grassy area of the 400-block of Ninth Street, near Brandon City Hall.

One of two men reported to be drunk near city hall Wednesday turned out to be dead.

Police say they found the 47-year-old man unresponsive and not breathing so they began CPR. He was also taken to hospital by ambulance, but could not be revived.

Officers were first called to the grassy area between city hall and a bank on the west side of the 400-block of Ninth Street by a report of two intoxicated men. One of the men did turn out to be highly intoxicated, but the other was dead.

Although police say they are continuing their investigation, foul play is not suspected.
