Are there many bears in downtown Brandon?
Apparently not, since one man was arrested Monday night for threatening other people with pepper spray designed for bears.
Police were called to the area of Seventh Street and Pacific Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, but located and arrested a suspect near Sixth Street and Rosser Avenue.
The suspect, a 22-year-old man from Portage la Prairie, was found in possession of a can of bear spray. He was to appear in court yesterday, facing a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
