A serial burglar and thief who broke into Brandon businesses six times — including one business four separate times — has pleaded guilty and is set to be sentenced next month.
Jesse Benjamin Edward Quantrill’s crime spree began back on Nov. 26-27, 2011, when he broke into Heartland Livestock Services on 12th Street North.
He’d been accused of committing fraud against Heartland Livestock Services in the months leading up to that break-in.
He’d already pleaded guilty to those offences when, on Monday, he pleaded guilty to further burglaries and thefts, as outlined by Crown attorney Garry Rainnie.
Sometime between June 29-30, Quantrill stole a John Deere Gator utility vehicle from Enns Brothers Ltd. on 18th Street North, then stole another on July 3-4.
He then broke into Action Power on First Street on July 13 and stole a Sea-Doo. That day, or the day after, he also entered the Wheat City Cycle compound on First Street North and stole an all-terrain vehicle.
Quantrill struck again on Aug. 5-6 when he entered a café inside Heartland Livestock Services and stole food, $25 cash and a jar of change.
He broke in again on Sept. 4 and took $30 to $40 cash and some food. He also breached a bail order that banned him from being at Heartland Livestock.
But Heartland Livestock was Quantrill’s target yet again on Sept. 15-16 when he entered the business, broke into a Coke machine and took some change and drinks.
Quantrill, 22, has now pleaded guilty to fraud, breach of undertaking, theft of motor vehicles and four counts of break and enter.
He’s in custody as he awaits sentencing on Dec. 27.
