A Brandon man has been hospitalized and is in serious condition after he was hit by a train early Tuesday morning.
The 25-year-old was on the tracks near the 1500-block of Pacific Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by a westbound CP Rail train.
CP spokesperson Breanne Feigel said members of the train crew performed first aid on the man before the ambulance arrived.
The train would have been travelling at less than 17 kilometres per hour, she said.
“Something like this is obviously very hard on our crews, so they have been offered critical stress counselling,” Feigel said.
Investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
