The 100th anniversary of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry is being marked by a memorial baton relay that will be in Brandon on Monday.
Two public events in the city are scheduled for the celebration. People are invited to an historical display at the Brandon Veterans’ Memorial, at 11th Street and Victoria Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a ceremony at 11 a.m.
The baton will be run to the memorial from city hall.
People are also invited to Canadian Tire on 18th Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where there will be historical and equipment displays as well as family-oriented activities.
The relay is heading from Alberta to Ontario, and is expected to take until September. The baton itself carries a Roll of Honour of the 1,866 members of the Patricias who have been killed in service to Canada over the past century.
