Mounties say a mother and her three children escaped serious injury when a semi rolled through a stop sign and hit their car.
The collision happened around 6 p.m. on Tuesday about five kilometres east of the city, at the intersection of Highway 457 (Veterans Way) and Road 102 (Curries Landing Road).
The 42-year-old mother and three children — aged three, seven and nine years — were travelling west on Veterans Way in their 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, and the semi was going north on Road 102.
RCMP say the semi failed to stop at a stop sign and the vehicles collided, destroying the front end of the Cobalt.
The children were taken to hospital as a precaution, but everyone involved seems to have escaped serious injury.
The 24-year-old semi driver from Schanzenfeld has been ticketed $199.80 for disobeying a traffic control device under the Highway Traffic Act. No other charges are pending.
