Despite offering party-goers a safe and free alternative ride home on New Year’s Eve, Brandon Transit rides rang in 2014 at an all-time low.
In its third year, Brandon Transit provided 501 rides, compared to 700 rides in 2012 and 970 in 2011.
Buses ran once an hour from 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, and there was no charge to hop on or off at any regular stop.
The service is partly sponsored by Manitoba Public Insurance, with media partners including the Brandon Sun stepping in to provide advertising support. Radio stations CKLQ, Star FM, BOB FM and The Farm are also supporters.
