A man faces charges of assault and forcible confinement after an argument that escalated Tuesday evening.
The woman he allegedly hit managed to get away and call police just before 10 p.m.
Police say that the argument broke out while the pair was in a home on the 600-block of Eighth Street. It apparently escalated to the point where the man struck the woman several times in the upper body and prevented her from leaving for a brief period of time.
After officers arrived, they were able to find and arrest the suspect.
A 56-year-old Brandon man was to appear in court yesterday.
